Newton - The Sussex County Arts & Heritage Council is sponsoring an art exhibit representing the work of 42 county students who participated in the Teen Arts Festival Program. The program is in its 37th year and its goal has been to encourage middle and high school students to explore their potential and fine tune their talents in the arts. The 42 selections were made by professional judges from among hundreds of entries at the 2006 Festival that was held at the Sussex County Community College in March. The goal of the critiquing process is to offer students feedback on their artistic abilities and insight into the creative process in a non-competitive, encouraging forum. The exhibit can be seen thru May 31 on the 2nd floor of the Judicial Center, 43-47 High Street, Newton. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday, Thursday and Friday and from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday. Admission is free. The public is invited to a reception to honor the artists on May 31 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The participating students are, by school: Franklin Elementary School: Jade Ashe, Kori Batty, Kyle Mays.
