WEST MILFORD — Excitement is building as the Greenwood Lake Airport prepares to present its 2012 airshow and World War II showcase on Aug. 18 and 19. This year, they are proud to have headline airshow performer Gary Ward. Ward is one of the top air show performers in the country. He puts his MX2 aircraft through one of the most exciting performances you will ever see. The entire sequence is jam packed with breathtaking gyrations that range from zero speed hovers to dives in excess of 250 miles per hour. Ward makes full use of the power and agility of the MX2 to perform many maneuvers that an airplane just isn't supposed to do. Also participating in the show is the Twin Tiger Aerobatic Team. Pilots Buck Roetman and Mark Sorenson have teamed up in two identical vintage Russian Yak 55s, each painted in a dazzling orange tiger stripe color scheme. They will provide a magnificent aerial demonstration that will highlight the demanding skills required to fly close formation precision aerobatics. And there is so much more. Eugene Richardson, John Harrison and Julius Freeman - all former Tuskegee Airmen - will be part of the World War II Showcase. Easy Company 506th Parachute Regiment, a living history unit, will participate. And if you like cars, your day will be made. In addition to the sights in the air, a car show will be held and trophies awarded in the following categories: muscle cars, custom/hotrod, exotic/sport, antique/classic, and military/truck. Tickets can be purchased online at www.greenwoodlakeairshow.com. Through July, general admission tickets are $17 for adults, $13 for seniors and $8 for children ages 5 through 12. Under 5 are free. In August and at the gate, one day tickets are $20, $15 and $10 respectively. Two-day front line tickets with VIP parking are $50, $43 and $24 respectively. The 2012 Greenwood Lake Airshow is an exciting event the entire family will enjoy watching. Greenwood Lake Airport is located at 126 Airport Road in West Milford.
