SPARTA/VERNON-Wilkes University head football coach Frank Sheptock has announced that Sparta High School standouts Luke Reidenauer, Kevin Taylor and Tim Yeagley, along with Vernon Township High School star Robert Jordan, have decided to attend Wilkes in the fall. Reidenauer, who selected Wilkes after considering Rowan, Montclair State and Iona, earned three varsity letters as an offensive and defensive lineman for the Spartans. The 6-0, 255-pounder was a two-year starter on both sides of the ball, and helped Sparta capture the 2003 New Jersey State Championship. Reidenauer earned New Jersey Herald All-Area second team honors following both his junior and senior seasons, while earning All-Sussex County Interscholastic League honors. He was also a member of the baseball and winter track teams for the Spartans. He plans to pursue his degree in history and education. Taylor was also a three-year letter winner and two-year starter on the offensive and defensive lines for Sparta. A team captain for the Spartans, the 6-1, 245-pounder played a pivotal role in leading the squad to an 18-5 record during the last two seasons, including a 12-0 mark and the state title as a junior. He was a two-time All-Conference, All-Area and All-West Jersey selection. A member of the lacrosse team at Sparta, Taylor opted for Wilkes after considering Springfield, Curry, Rowan and Plymouth State. He is undecided on a major. Yeagley, who chose Wilkes after considering Wagner, Shippensburg, and Delaware Valley, earned three varsity letters as a linebacker at Sparta. A two-year starter, the 6-0, 210-pounder was named the team's most valuable player following his senior season. He was named to the New Jersey Herald's first team following both his junior and senior seasons, while also being named to the Star Ledger All-West Jersey third team. Yeagley, who also played basketball for the Spartans, was a member of the Future Business Leaders of America and DARE. He plans to pursue a degree in education and criminal justice. Jordan was a three-year starter at Vernon Township, where he played both running back and outside linebacker. A two-time second team All-Area selection, Jordan rushed for 1,200 yards and 20 touchdowns, and helped the Vikings post an overall record of 7-3 in 2004. Jordan was also a standout performer on the wrestling mat for Vernon Township, where he earned both All-League and All-Area honors. An Eagle Scout and honor roll student, he plans to pursue his degree in criminology.
