Sparta High School hosts annual Jazzfest

Sparta. Dozens of bands from local high schools descended upon Sparta Township High School for the program’s fourth annual jazz band competition.

The Sparta Township High School Music Dept. hosted its fourth annual Jazzfest on April 6.

The event gathers a dozen top jazz bands from northern New Jersey, who compete for group and individual ratings.

Bands performed in either the Middle School, Competitive, or Highly Competitive division. This year’s pro adjudicators are Montclair State University’s Jeff Kunkel, Oscar Perez, and Mike Lee, and former Sparta Jazz Band director
