Tenth annual show attracts 10,000 to county fairgrounds The Tenth Annual Springfest Flower and Garden Show took place last weekend at the Sussex County Fairgrounds in Augusta. Springfest came about when the Agricultural Division of the Sussex County Farm & Horse Show came up with the idea of a flower show to showcase horticultural development in New Jersey and to establish a scholarship fund for students preparing for a career in horticulture and agriculture. Over the years the show has grown from a 100 by 100-foot greenhouse attracting 10,000 visitors to the present facility, which is over 30,000 square feet and includes 13 ornamental gardens, 12 educational exhibits and more 50 vendor booths covering all aspects of outdoor living. A series of lectures took place over the five days of the event covering subjects as varied as How to Choose the Right Landscaper to The Victorian Art of Pressed Flowers. This year Springfest was expected to attract more than 10,000 visitors from across the tri state area.
