Augusta - The Sussex County Board of Chosen Freeholders, along with the Sussex County Division of Senior Services and the Senior Quality of Life Foundation, will sponsor the sixth annual Sussex County Salute to Military Veterans, on Nov. 4, at the Sussex County Fairgrounds, Augusta. In years past, this all-out celebration has attracted large crowds and inspired patriotism and camaraderie among veterans and spectators. This year’s activities will include the traditional Parade of Military Veterans along with color guards, various bands, a display of vintage military equipment and the time-honored fly over. In addition, Veterans will be presented with Sussex County Commemorative Pins by the Sussex County Board of Chosen Freeholders. We are currently trying to reach out to the, estimated, 5,000 Veterans in the county to take part in the celebration. Veterans who cannot walk the one-mile route will have vehicles made available to them. Civic groups and local marching bands are strongly encouraged to participate in the Sussex County Salute to Military Veterans celebration. Complimentary refreshments will be served. For more information, contact the Sussex County Division of Senior Services at (973) 579-0555 ext. 1221.
