Sweet Corn Festival returns

    vernon-The annual sweet corn festival returns to Heaven Hill Farm from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. on Aug. 28-29 with activities ranging from pig races to corn-eating contests to country-western music. The farm has created a maze and a hay crawl for children and has erected a giant corn-stalk teepee and a hay mountain. Music will be provided by "The Cadillac Cowboys." In addition, Alice Backer of the American Clog Dancing Workshop will give demonstrations and host an open fiddle jam session and a kids' fiddle and percussion session. The popular "Pigtuckey Derby" pig races return. There is also a petting zoo, goat walk, amusement rides, a corn-box for kids to play in, and a trike track. Corn will also be served in its many forms, including corn chowder, corn tamales, corn dogs, corn fritters and on the cob.
