Sugar Loaf, NY In “The Male Intellect: An Oxymoron?” actor/writer,Robert Dubac ransacks his brain to answer the age-old question, “What do women want?” This one-man show pinpoints the differences between men and women and then celebrates them in the next ninety minutes. The comedic tour-de-force is being presented by Kings Theatre Company at the Lycian Centre for the Performing Arts in Sugar Loaf on Friday, June 8, at 8 p.m. Having toured the country for ten years, “The Male Intellect” has garnered reviews from San Francisco to Toronto, Chicago to Los Angeles, including, “Robert Dubac is talented, entertaining and very funny!” from the Boston Globe. According to the Los Angeles Times, “The show elicits big laughs from both sexes in waves of treble and bass,” and the Philadelphia Inquirer wrote, “The Male Intellect’ is adeptly conceived, refreshingly and comically stated and Dubac has no trouble keeping it up for 90 minutes.” The Denver Post and Toronto Star both gave the show its highest four-star rating, “The Male Intellect’ is hilarious as it is thought-provoking a brilliant show.” The show begins with the main and only character, Bobby, in a very confused state. Having found the girl of his dreams and having asked her to marry him, she gently dumps him. Why? Unable to answer this question he recalls some not-so-wise but nonetheless hilarious advice he received growing up with five chauvinistic mentors. With a shrug of his shoulders, a hooding of his eyes or a crook of his neck Robert Dubac seamlessly transforms himself into these five alter egos; each offering their own brand of misguided advice. Bobby realizes that most of their advice is worthless but with help from his “feminine side” he is able to sift through the bad advice and discover the real answer to “What do women want?” And he does it all while drinking a beer. The comedy was produced by Franzblau Media Inc.
