SUSSEX Tri-State has come to the decision to leave the historic Crescent Theater in Sussex Borough within the next few months. The Sussex theater has been Tri-State’s home since 2002. The company is currently engaged in preliminary discussions with other venues throughout the county to continue their productions and services. Tri-State’s plans for the season have doubled the number of play readings from four to eight and they will be staged in various locations throughout the region. For its first event, Tri-State Actors Theater performed a New Play Reading of “The Red Balloon,” a dramatic comedy by playwright Michael Gutschick at An Open Book in Newton. Tri-State will once again participate in The New Jersey Theater Alliance’s annual statewide offerings in March for Family Week at the Theatre and The Stages Festival. On Saturday, March 12, Tri-State will revive this past summer’s family musical production, “Hey Ho Pinocchio.” Two performances will be given at Sussex Middle School. Curtain times are 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Ticket prices are $12 for adults and $9 for students 18 and under. One student ticket is free with a paying adult. And on Saturday, March 26, Tri-State will offer a free Improv Comedy Class with Scotty Watson at Sussex County College’s Performing Arts Center. The workshop is for SCCC students, faculty, and the general public, ages 15 and up. Advanced sign-up is recommended.
