Tri-State to hold winter acting classes for all ages

    Sussex county - Tri-State Actors Theater will offer winter acting classes for children and teenagers and an acting workshop for adults beginning in January. Besides presenting professional productions, the mission of Tri-State includes training young people and adults in the tri-state area who want to participate in the theater as actors, designers, and technicians. Registration for the classes will continue through January by phone 973-875-2950 and at the theater, 74 Main Street in Sussex Borough. Classes for children 6-12 years of age will be held twice a week on Thursdays and Saturdays for four weeks beginning Thursday, Jan. 19. Professional actor and teacher Fran DeCesare will teach. DeCesare has taught children’s classes previously with both Playwright’s Theater of New Jersey and the Growing Stage. Individual attention to each student, creative dramatics, games, and a Parents’ Night Presentation will be part of the classes. The fee for the classes is $150. Classes for teenagers, 13-17, will be taught by artistic director and teacher Paul Meacham. A licensed teacher of drama in New Jersey for more than 20 years, Meacham has been a professional actor and director for more than 35 years. Student actors will learn basic skills of acting, work on monologues and rehearse and perform two-character scenes. Classes will be held once a week for nine weeks on Wednesdays beginning Jan. 11. The fee is $150. Tara Bowles, professional actor and teacher, will conduct an Acting Workshop for Adults for 15 weeks. Bowles studied acting under Stella Adler and taught the Adler Method in New York. The class will consist of scene study and application of specific methods for the adult actor. The workshop will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Mondays beginning March 6. The fee is $225. Registration continues through Monday, March 6.
