Morristown —The Music Ministry of The Presbyterian Church in Morristown presents two evening concerts in October. Pipes, Drums and Brass, a mixed group of 30 pieces of brass, eight pipers and three drums, play the stirring sounds of martial music from the British Isles on Saturday, Oct. 14. Two northern New Jersey bands, The Mag 7 Pipe band and the Palisades Park Fire Department Brass Band, join forces to play traditional band arrangements of Scottish bagpipe medleys and patriotic anthems rarely heard outside of the United Kingdom. Church director of music, Jim Hicks, will make a special guest appearance on the bagpipes. The Heritage Piano Trio, on cello, violin and piano, will play selections by Ludwig van Beethoven, Georg Phillip Telemann and American composer Amy Beach on Saturday, Oct. 28. An evening of chamber music is offered by local cellist Marnie Kaller (pictured), violinist Nancie Lederer and pianist Pauline Lederer, including Beethoven’s “Archduke Trio” and a rare example of Beach’s work, a trio based upon Native American folk melodies. Both concerts are offered at 8 p.m. in the sanctuary of the church, located at 57 Park Place on the Green. The concerts are free and open to the public.
