Varsity Dance Team announces coaches for 2019-2020

West Milford. Two dance team alumni are returning to guide the West Milford Varsity Dance Team this year.

The West Milford High School Varsity Dance Team is pleased to announce Mia Maslanek and Giulia Griffith as its 2019-2020 coaches.

Both Mia and Giulia are dance team alumni and have chosen to share their passion for dance and their WM pride with their hometown team.

Coach Mia Maslanek (Del Gaudio), WM Class of 2005, was dance team captain her senior year.

She also danced at the King Centre for the Performing Arts where she was a member of the dance company.

After high school, Mia continued her dance career at Hofstra University where she was on the nationally ranked dance team for five years, and received her degree in Exercise Science and Dance.

Following college, Mia worked as a Universal Dance Instructor for seven years, traveling all over the east coast teaching high school and college dance teams at Universal Dance Association (UDA) summer camps.

She now works as an Occupational Therapist at Hackensack University Medical Center and is VERY excited to be coaching the West Milford Dance Team.

Coach Giulia Griffith, WM Class of 2010, started her career dancing for Barry Manilow’s entertainment company, onboard, Holland America Line’s S class ships, sparking her love for travel.

She worked abroad in Abu Dhabi dancing as a soloist for Ferrari in addition to dancing as Roxanne in Moulin Rouge at the Burj al-Arab in Dubai.

In Germany, Giulia was the principal dancer in the Cirque Show Pallazzo Varieté, rounding out dancing on all seven continents.

Stateside, Giulia has danced under the direction of Frank Gatson Jr. in the revamp of "Jubilee!" in Las Vegas.

She has performed at Lincoln Center's Hall Of Fame Gala dancing for the induction of Louis Armstrong, Audra McDonald and Hal Prince (dir Christopher D’amboise).

Other credits include performances in The Nutcracker, AYDC, Fiends, Busch Gardens, Christmastown, Barry Manilow’s Copacabana, Theatrezone.

Giulia is thrilled to be back at West Milford coaching her favorite team.
