Rebecca "Becca" Schultz, daughter of Paul and Debra Schultz of Sussex, was named first runner up for the Robert C. Macauley Caring Award at Lynchburg College, a private college in central Virginia enrolling 2,200 students in professional, liberal arts and sciences, and graduate studies. The Robert C. Macauley Caring Award recognizes students who not only have an outstanding personal commitment to community service but who actively seek to address previously unmet needs. Schultz was recognized for her work with Habitat for Humanity, Special Olympics, the Society of St. Andrew, and individuals with special needs. She will receive a framed certificate and monetary gift to be donated to the nonprofit organization and/ or community service agency of her choice. Schultz, a graduate of Vernon Township High School, is a graduate student majoring in human development and learning at Lynchburg College.
