Vernon library friends host free concert

    Vernon - The Friends of the Library, Dorothy E. Henry Branch, will present the Browning-Gilchrest Duo in an afternoon recital at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 30, in the Main Hall of the library, located on Route 94 in Vernon. The New York-based guitar and flute duo has been performing throughout the U.S. and Europe since 1985. Winner of the 1996 Artists International Award for Chamber Music, the duo has appeared in major NYC concert halls, including Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Symphony Space and Florence Gould Hall. Flutist Suzanne Gilchrest, a member of the New York University music faculty, has appeared in Vernon several times as a member of the trio, Eight Strings and a Whistle. Guitarist Winslow Browning has also performed in recitals, as a soloist with orchestras, and in chamber ensembles in Europe and the U.S. The concert will be followed by a reception. The program is free and is suitable for all ages.
