West Milford - Jeffrey Schultz has been active in brass banding for over 30 years as both a tuba player and conductor. A graduate of the Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford, he has served as Divisional Music Director in both Southern New England and New Jersey for The Salvation Army and for 23 years as a member and soloist in the New York Staff Band. His brass banding experiences have allowed him to travel extensively throughout five continents including North America, Asia, Europe, Australia, and Africa and has given opportunities to perform at locations such as the Sydney Opera House, Carnegie Hall, and Royal Albert Hall to name a few. He has performed on over 20 recordings with the New York Staff Band, Imperial Brass, and the New Jersey Youth Band. For the past 16 years he has been involved with his second love, the media arts. He presently serves as Director of the Media Ministries Bureau of the U.S.A. Eastern Territory of The Salvation Army. The Bureau has received 17 national and international awards including eleven Telly, four Videographer, one Aurora, and one Aegis awards under his leadership. Above all, he is most proud of his family. His oldest daughter, Kirsten, a graduate of the University of Delaware, lives in Ardmore, Pa. His youngest girls, Kate and Annalise, along with his wife Anita, are residents of West Milford. Imperial Brass was founded in January, 1991 by Rutgers University alumni Steve Dillon and Jon Korsun with arranger Mark Freeh. The all-brass British instrumentation affords a unique opportunity for musicians in the New Jersey area to play challenging literature. The band’s repertoire includes a wide range of styles: brass band classics, contemporary works, classical arrangements, music from Broadway, popular selections, and the opportunity to perform with world class soloists.
