Warwick, N.Y. Winslow Therapeutic Center will sponsor a Centered Riding Instructor Update Clinic with international equestrian clinician and author, Susan E. Harris, at Winslow Therapeutic Center, 328 Route 17A, Warwick, N.Y., on September 6, 7, 8 and 9. The clinic, which is open to centered riding instructors and auditors, will introduce centered riding, a method which blends sport psychology, body awareness and centering techniques derived from the oriental martial arts with traditional horsemanship. Harris teaches clinics around the world and is a frequent speaker at major equestrian events, including Equitana USA, Equitana Australia and Equine Affaire. She is the author of popular horse books, including “Horse Gaits,” “Balance and Movement” and the “U.S. Pony Club Manuals of Horsemanship.” A level IV centered riding instructor, Harris has worked extensively with Sally Swift, the founder of Centered Riding, and was honored as a master instructor by the American Riding Instructor Association. Riders who wish to participate in the clinic must register in advance; an admission fee will be charged for spectators.
