Newton - Wendy Stamer of Sparta is the featured artist this month at the Sussex County Administrative Center, One Spring St., in Newton, with an exhibit in the lobby of watercolor and oil paintings. Sponsored by the Sussex-Warren Arts Foundation, the exhibit is on view Monday through Friday during regular business hours. Stamer received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Bucknell University, with a minor in art, and then studied art for five years with Tina Crowley of Stillwater, and for two years with William Senior at the DeCret School of Art in Plainfield. She has also taken workshops with Arleta Pech and Martha Mans. She is affiliated with the Morris County Art Association, Millburn-Short Hills Arts Center, and is a signature member of the North East Watercolor Society. She is also a past president of the Art Association in Roxbury and the Sparta Woman’s Club art department. Stamer has won many awards, including “best in show” in various exhibits over the years, and was the 2002 winner of the Sprint phone book cover competition. Her works have been featured in many exhibits, and will be featured in the 2006 Jefferson Township Historical Society spring art show. She has created limited edition prints of the “Sparta House Tour” for the Newton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and “Scenic Sussex County” for Project Self-Sufficiency.
