SPARTA Children enrolled in Kids Educational Enrichment Program (K.E.E.P.) throughout Sussex County sent positive messages about our environment by decorating grocery bags for Earth Day. With the support of Weis Supermarket in Franklin and the Stop & Shop in Sparta, the K.E.E.P. students participated in the 14th annual Earth Day Groceries Project. Besides carrying an environmental message, each K.E.E.P.-labeled bag featured original artwork designed by the children. Since 1994, over 400,000 Earth Day Grocery Bags have been distributed by K.E.E.P. as part of this environmental effort. K.E.E.P. kids have been involved with month community service learning projects throughout the course of this school year, from food drives for the needy to Valentine’s cards for soldiers in Iraq to clean-up projects to Earth Day bags. The organization’s philosophy of providing enrichment activities for every child extends to promoting positive youth development and empowering children to make positive changes in their world from the earliest possible age.
