A proud, new marine

Zachary Thomas Day became a United States Marine on Jan. 24, 2014. After being recruited by Staff Sergeant Richard Ison at the Bloomingdale recruiting station, Day attended boot camp in Parris Island, S.C., for 13 weeks. He had a 10-day leave which he spent at home with family and friends. He then completed four weeks of military combat training at Camp Lejeune, N.C. Day is now in Pensacola, Fla., where he is training to be a helicopter flight crewmen. Day, a 2013 graduate of West Milford High School, is the son of Michael and Lori Day of Newfoundland. "We are very proud of him," said Lori Day.
