WEST MILFORD — Mathilda Pintak, a long-time resident of Shady Lake in West Milford, turns 100 today, May 31, 2013. "Tillie," as she is known, is the mother of Barbara and John Koch, of West Milford, previously of Wanaque, the grandmother of Melissa Anderson of Wanaque and Kristina Cahayla of West Milford, and the great-grandmother of Jordan, Kaelin, Lainey, Jillian and Amelia.
Born on May 31, 1913, Mathilda was raised in Union City, one of three daughters born to her Czechoslovakian and German immigrant parents. Her father was a custom tailor; her mother a dressmaker.
Tillie has lived for a full century, seeing many changes as the years rolled by. She is healthy and happy, her family reports, plain spoken, good humored, friendly and up to date on the world around her.
Tillie plans to have a quiet celebration of her centennial birthday with her close family members and friends.
We celebrate with you today, Tillie. Happy birthday!
