Association for Special Children and Families is a true champion

WEST MILFORD — The Association for Special Children and Families (ASCF) has been awarded the Salute to Champions of Disability 2013 award by the Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders and the Advisory Council on Disability. This award was for creating programs and spearheading efforts that recognize the potential of individuals with disabilities.
ASCF staff and representatives attended a ceremony on May 21 where Passaic County Freeholder Director Bruce James and Janice Sangle, a member of the Advisory Council on Disability, presented the group with certificates of commendation from the Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders and the New Jersey State Senate.
Attending for ASCF were Executive Director Angela Abdul, staff members Julie Rikon, Judy Bassford, Edith Felix and Lili Rodriguez and board member Andrew Abdul.
ASCF is a community-based organization located in West Milford supporting and helping parents who have babies, children and young adults with any type of disability. For 35 years, they have served families through family support activities and children's programs. ASCF is part of a nationwide network of parent centers whose mission is to serve families of children with disabilities. They were recently awarded a Parent Center of Excellence award by the National Parent Center Alliance.
