Stillwater - Danielle Kulisz of the Fairview Lake YMCA was recently presented with the Russell Colgate Youth of the Year award at the Metropolitan YMCA of Oranges 29th annual Fellowship Dinner. One young member from each of the five Metropolitan YMCA of Oranges branches received the award for their exemplary behavior at the YMCA and in their personal lives. “Danielle has come to exemplify the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in all that she does,” said Ellie Daingerfield, executive director of the Fairview Lake YMCA. “It gives me great pleasure to see her win this year’s Youth of the Year award.” Kulisz has worked at the Fairview Lake YMCA for over three years. She started as a life guard and was known for her positive attitude toward her job and the campers. Within the past year she has expanded her knowledge of camp and has become more versatile in her position: She now teaches nature classes, team building activities, target sports and climbing, in addition to her waterfront duties. She exhibits the same enthusiasm in her schoolwork and her personal life. Kulisz is a senior at Kittatinny Regional High School, where she is a member of the National Honor Society, the Future Business Leaders of America, the softball team and the cheerleading squad. She is an active participant in school events such as cross-age teaching, peer leadership, working with developmentally disabled adults, and she tutors both high school and college students in math. She also volunteers for the Stillwater Recreation Commission. For information about the Fairview Lake YMCA and its programs, call 9730383-9282 or log on to fairviewlakeymca.org.
