Former Eagle Scout graduates US Marine boot camp

Private First Class David Dolfi, 18, of West Milford graduated from United States Marine Corps boot camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island on Sept. 18, 2015. Dolfi successfully completed 13 weeks of intensive basic training at MCRD Parris Island as one of 84 recruits in Training Platoon 1077. While in recruit training, Dolfi achieved the sharpshooter badge on the rifle range and held the position of squad leader during one of the final phases of training.

Dolfi is the son of Laura O'Keefe of West Milford and Dave Dolfi of Dublin, Ohio. Five years ago, The Messenger ran a story about the then-13-year-old eighth grader who had jus finished a summer camp at Marine Military Academy in Texas. His mom then had said it is his dream to join the Marine Corps.

Following 10 days home on leave, he reported to Camp LeJeune for two months at Infantry Training Battalion. Dolfi will be assigned his permanent duty station following training.
