Gentile earns veterinary degree

WEST MILFORD — Jessica Mary Gentile, daughter of Gary and Patricia Gentile of Oak Ridge, NJ graduated Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine with the degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine on May 12. While at Kansas State University, Jessica founded the KSU chapter of the Veterinary Business Management Association and was its first national secretary. She was also president of the student chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association and held class officer positions. Jessica published research on thoroughbred race horses in 2005 and presented a poster of that work at the 4th Annual Merck-Merial Veterinary Scholars Honors Symposium in 2003. Recently, she received the “Future Small Animal Specialist Award” given by the KSU faculty for her potential to contribute to specialized medicine. In the upcoming year, she will be an intern at Oregon State University College of Veterinary Medicine and hopes to pursue a residency in veterinary cardiology. Jessica is a 1998 graduate of West Milford Township High School and a 2002 graduate of Cornell University where she received her BS degree in Animal Science. During her time at Cornell, Jessica was first author on a nutrition paper published in the Journal of Animal Science and presented at the 2002 American and Canadian Societies of Animal Science joint meeting, and was a secondary author on two other nutrition papers. Jessica was the president of her sorority Kappa Delta, a 2002 Cornell Outstanding Chapter Leader, and member of the Order of Omega honor society.
