West Milford High School senior Vincent Montesano has received an appointment to West Point Military Academy. He graduates high school in June and will begin July 2 at the academy. Montesano will be part of the class of 2022 and will be expected to serve for five years of active duty after he graduates. West Point candidates must be accepted within high educational standards and be nominated by a member of Congress. Only about 12 percent of applicants are accepted into the four-year program on the banks of the Hudson River. The academy has just under 5,000 students in attendance each year.
