Honors
Phi Sigma Theta is pleased to announce that Gabrielle Murray, the daughter of Priscilla and Drew Murray of West Milford, has become a member of the Phi Sigma Theta National Honor Society at West Virginia University. Phi Sigma Theta is a national honor society dedicated to recognizing and rewarding academic achievement in undergraduates at institutions of higher learning.

The following local residents were among 1,340 students from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) named to the university's dean's list for academic excellence for the spring 2013 semester.
David Poganski of West Milford, a junior majoring in mechanical engineering.
Nathaniel Yuhas of West Milford, a junior majoring in mechanical engineering.
The criteria for the WPI Dean's List differs from most other universities as WPI does not compute a grade point average. Instead, WPI defines the dean's list by the amount of work completed at the A level in courses and projects.
Shane Kelley, a resident of Hewitt, earned the distinction of being named to the honors list for the spring semester at the New England School of Communications.
Lisa Macari of West Milford, class of 2016 at Eastern Connecticut State University, was named to the dean's list for the spring semester. She is majoring in pre-early childhood education and psychology.
Jordan Carmichael, a sophomore political science major at Grove City College, has been named to the dean's list with distinction for the spring 2013 semester. Jordan is a 2011 graduate of West Milford High School and is the son of Scott and Lois Carmichael of Hewitt.
Students eligible for the dean's list with distinction have a GPA of 3.60 to 3.84.
Sarah Silvestri of Newfoundland has been named to the dean's list for the spring 2013 semester at Drew University. In order to qualify for the dean's list, students must earn a grade point average of 3.6 or above. Sarah is a freshman with a double major in biology and music. Sarah’s success at Drew included being named MVP of the Drew woman’s fencing team.
Collin MacDonald of West Milford has earned honors for the spring semester of the 2012-2013 academic year at the University of New Hampshire. Students must earn a grade point average of 3.5 through 3.64 to received honors.
Layne E. Emery, daughter of Kristine Emery of Hewitt and Stephen Emery of West Milford, was named to the spring 2013 dean's list at Saint Michael's College in Burlington, Vt. Layne is a junior political science major. Students who complete a minimum of 12 credits and achieve a grade point average of at least 3.4 at the end of a semester are recognized for their scholarship by inclusion on the dean's list.
Theresa Hofmann of Hewitt was recognized for her excellent academic accomplishment, achieving a grade point average of 3.74, by being placed on the dean's list for the spring semester of 2013. She has just completed her first year in the School of Arts and Sciences at the Catholic University of America, located in Washington D.C. where she is studying political science.
Graduations
Thomas Kuchenreuther of West Milford graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology with a bachelor of science degree in management information systems from RIT's E. Philip Saunders College of Business in the winter 2012-13 quarter.
The largest graduating class in the history of Berkeley College graduated in May. Dario A. Cortes, president of Berkeley College, announced that 1,900 students from the various New Jersey and New York locations received bachelor's and associate's degrees. They include:

Melanie Young of West Milford, who received a bachelor of science degree in justice studies - criminal justice
Adam Bremy of West Milford graduated from Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pa., with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice.
Christa A. Pratko of Newfoundland received a bachelor of science degree in dietetics nutrition and food sciences within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences during commencement ceremonies on May 19, 2013 at the University of Vermont.
Ashlee C. Allgayer of West Milford was among the record number of graduates who earned degrees from The University of Scranton at commencement ceremonies held Memorial Day weekend. Allgayer earned a bachelor of science degree in political science and history from Scranton.
James C. Farrington of West Milford graduated with a degree in history at the 120th commencement exercises at Saint Anselm College in Manchester, N.H. on Saturday, May 18, 2013.
Alexandre Bieri of West Milford graduated from Villanova University with a master of science in mechanical engineering during a spring commencement ceremony, held on Sunday, May 19. Alexandre is the son of Bettina Bieri.
