James Sheehan named ‘Teacher of Year'

Byram - The Byram School District has announced that James Sheehan has been chosen as “Teacher of the Year” for 2006/2007. Sheehan has taught social studies in Byram for over four decades. “Not only is Jim recognized as an outstanding instructor, but also as a team player, coach, mentor and team teacher in the culture of the Byram Intermediate School,” said the announcement. “Mr. Sheehan is a proponent of professional development for teachers and constantly illustrates the importance of subject matter relevance for the benefit of his students.” The distric statement noted that Sheehan “teaches history not as an absolute discipline but as a subject to be investigated, researched and analyzed continually.” It said the “entire education community” in Byram salutes his “accomplishments, longevity and enthusiasm.”
