Lenape Valley student receives Emerson Scholarship

    ST. LOUIs —Erica Cooper, a student at Lenape Valley Regional High School, has been named as one of 30 recipients of an Emerson National Scholarship, awarded annually to children of Emerson employees. Erica, of Sparta, is the daughter of Michael A. Cooper, who is employed at ASCO Valve, a division of Emerson, in Florham Park. Selected from among 147 finalists, winners were announced by Michael G. Rohret, Emerson vice president of employee relations. Selection is made based on academic performance of the applicants: grade point average, class rank, and national test scores. Participation in school activities and community involvement are also considered in the selection process. Scholarship winners are awarded $1,500 per academic year for four years. Erica plans to attend Yale University or the University of Chicago, to study biomedical engineering.
