Hope - Norman E. Beatty, president of First Hope Bank, has been named treasurer of the “NJBankers,” an organization dedicated to serving and representing the banking industry and its affiliates at all levels of government and to providing information and educational training to promote sound banking practices and financial services to the communities and businesses of N.J. “We are absolutely delighted to have Norm Beatty join the executive committee of NJBankers as treasurer,” said W. Stuart Cameron, NJBankers president. “Norm is a consummate banking professional and leader, who through the years has actively advanced the interests of the banking industry, both in N.J. and Washington. We believe he has done so, not only for the benefit of his own customers in northwestern N.J., but because he cares about providing the best financial services possible for the betterment of all communities in our state.” Beatty is chairman of the board, CEO, and president of First Hope Bank. He graduated from Blair Academy in 1958, the United States Military Academy in 1963, and the University of Alabama Graduate School of Business in 1971. He served in the U.S. Army from 1963-1983, commanding units from platoon through battalion in Germany, the U.S., and Vietnam. He retired from the Army as Lieutenant Colonel in 1983. He joined First National Bank of Hope, where he and worked with his late father, Lewis C. Beatty, until his father’s death in 1984. Active with both the N.J. Bankers Association and the American Bankers Association (ABA), he has served on numerous committees of both organizations. Beatty is a charter member of the Hope Area Chamber of Commerce, currently serving as president. He resides in Hope Twp., with his wife, the former Agnes Richards, of Columbus, Miss. He is the father of Lewis R. Beatty, vice president and CFO of First Hope Bank, and Daniel G. Beatty of Fairfield, Va.
