Alexander Thomson Grant, beloved husband of Vivian (nee Lange), died on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at home. He was 91.
Born in Clifton the son of Alexander and Jessie (Thomson), he moved to West Milford 51 years ago. Alex, a World War II Navy veteran, served on PT boats and was stationed in the Philippines, Island of Samar. Before retiring, he was a self-employed tool and die master mold maker. An accomplished wood carver, he donated many of his creations to charitable organizations. Alex was a member of Genesis Lodge F & AM, Pompton Lakes, PT Boats, Inc., Tennessee, and West Milford Presbyterian Church.
Along with his wife of 53 years, daughters Kathryn Abdinoor and her partner Douglas Haenn of Tinton Falls, Bonnie Faresich and her husband Richard of Denville, and Lorrie Dooley and her husband Brian of West Milford, his cherished grandchildren Alexis Abdinoor and Christopher and Brandon Faresich also survive him.
Visiting will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Richards Funeral Home, 1440 Union Valley Road, West Milford.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 23, at the funeral home. Interment to follow in Hackensack Cemetery, Hackensack.
