Carol "Casey" Meyer, 69, died on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 while at Barn Hill Care Center.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late Stephen and Mary Czajkowski, Casey had lived in West Milford before moving to Franklin in 1971 and then to Wantage in 1979. She had been a career food server, starting her employment at the former Neil's Restaurant by the Riverdale Circle.
Even though she was on her feet for very long hours, Casey enjoyed her time while working at the former Steak Out Restaurant and had retired from the Lafayette House. She took great pride in serving other people and was very proud at being able to say that she was good at what she did for a living. She used to say, "it is one of the hardest jobs, but I am damn good at it."
She was predeceased by her husband, Donald J. Meyer in 2000; her grandson, Hunter James Oldson in 2011, and her sister, Patricia "Patty"
Hay.
Casey is survived by her two sons, Donald R. Meyer of Sussex and Stephen A. Meyer of Wantage; her three daughters, Deb Meyer-Gonnoud of Wantage, Penny A. Meyer-Oldson of Kansas City, Missouri, and Wendy S. Meyer-Harris of Dingmans, PA; and her nine grandchildren, Molly Kerr, Dakota Slate, Dylan and Tylar Gonnoud, Carson Oldson, Stephanie and Stephen Meyer, and Turner and Aby Harris; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were at the Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank Street (Route 23), Sussex. Interment followed at Clove Cemtery.
