Darlene L. Quigley, nee Cervera, of West Milford, formerly of Hawthorne, passed away peacefully on Feb. 29, 2016, as her loving family kept vigil by her side. Darlene had just turned 50 years old on Feb. 20.
Born in New Jersey, Darlene resided in Hawthorne for the first 26 years of her life. Following her marriage to her soul mate, Scott Quigley of Mahwah, the young couple relocated to West Milford in 1992 to begin their journey together as husband and wife.
A graduate of Hawthorne High School Class of 1984, Darlene continued her education, earning her bachelor of science degree in finance from Ramapo College. She worked in accounting and human resource positions for several years before discovering her true passion as a homemaker and dedicated mother to their three beautiful daughters. Once her daughters were all attending school, Darlene returned to the workforce. Utilizing her childcare skills and experience, she began a new career as a preschool teacher at the Smoke Rise Nursery School in Kinnelon, where she was employed for the past eight years.
Darlene was a devoted mother and wife who also volunteered her time, energy, effort, and enthusiasm to numerous local organizations including Girl Scouts, recreational sports, school parent organizations and events, and various activities at St. Joseph’s Church.
The memory of her compassionate heart, contagious smile, and beautiful soul will be cherished, and her spirit will live on in the hearts and minds of all who were blessed with the privilege of knowing her.
Darlene is survived by her beloved husband of 24 years, Scott Quigley; their three precious daughters, Kaitlyn, Christine, and Alyssa; her loving mother, Wanda Cervera of West Milford, her dear sister, Debra Cervera of Wyckoff, and many dear friends and extended family.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at St. Anthony’s Church in Hawthorne on March 19 at 10 a.m.
