After a hard fought battle with lung cancer, David John Lynch of Hewitt left the world peacefully on July 8, 2012, following a celebration of his life and 34th wedding anniversary at the UGLPOA Clubhouse, surrounded by his family and friends in his final hours. He was 62.

As the proud dad of two special daughters, he coached West Milford Girls Softball throughout their youth, from T-Ball to traveling softball. His love and support was evident at every milestone of his daughters’ lives and careers.

Dave was a selfless, generous and dedicated husband and father. He will be missed. Dave built life-long friendships and camaraderie in Upper Greenwood Lake and throughout West Milford township with his affable personality, strength and honesty, his organizational and leadership abilities and his perseverance to “get the job done.” Dave served as board member and president of his lake community, the UGL Property Owners Association, for many years. During his tenure, he general contracted their new clubhouse and spearheaded the easement litigation, dam reconstruction and many lake quality improvement projects.

Fun-loving Dave organized many community-unifying events. Additionally, Dave chaired the West Milford Lakes Committee until April 2012 and was active in the Smart Growth Committee and other township preservation, recreational and political groups throughout his 34 years in West Milford. Dave Lynch received the Volunteer of the Year Award in 2011.

Dave was the beloved husband of Edna Culkin Lynch, beloved father of Christen Lynch Davenport, father-in-law of Charles (Josh) Davenport, grandfather of Abigail and twin boys, Noah and Nathanael, of Waterbury, Conn., and beloved father of Lauren Brie Lynch of New York City.

He was predeceased by his father, James K. Lynch in 2005, and his mother, Patricia Gallagher Lynch in 2008, formerly of Alpine, the Poconos, Florida and Vermont. The oldest of six children, Dave is survived by his sister, Karen Lynch Hanbridge, and brother-in-law, Ted, of Colchester, Vt., and his niece, Erin, and her husband, Manny Robertson, with their two sons, Myles and Sylas, of Essex Junction, Vt., and his nephew, David Hanbridge, and his wife, Liza, of Las Vegas, Nev., his brother, Christopher Lynch, of Hewitt; his brother, Kevin Lynch, and nephew, Justin, and niece, Courtney, of Palmer, Pa.; his brother, Jeffrey Lynch, of Jersey City; and his brother, Richard Lynch of West Milford.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 13, 2012, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Richard Funeral Home, 1440 Union Valley, West Milford. A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Hewitt.
