Donald Charles DeVane

    Donald Charles DeVane of Oak Ridge passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2014. He was 71.

    He was born on Nov. 29, 1942 in Jersey City to the late Dorothy C. (nee Neuschwanter) and Donald B. DeVane.

    Donald proudly served his country in the United States Army as a sergeant during the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1972 during which he was a tank commander.

    He was employed for many years as an iron worker with Local 45 in Jersey City. Donald was a dedicated member of the American Legion Post 423 in the Milton section of Jefferson Township.

    He will best be remembered as an avid outdoorsman, especially hunting, hiking, fishing, and any outdoor photography.

    Donald is survived by his beloved children, Donna DeVane of Oak Ridge, and Brian DeVane and his wife Poliana of Randolph; his brother Edward R. DeVane and his wife Sandra of West Milford; and his nephew Scott Backle.

    The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Stickle-Soltesz Funeral Home, 187 LaRue Road, Newfoundland. Final disposition will be private.

    In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mr. DeVane’s name to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
