Dr. Edward Sukoff of Upper Greenwood Lake and Brooklyn, N.Y., died on June 9, 2017. He was 90.
Ed and Libby had spent the Memorial Day Weekend at his "paradise home" at Upper Greenwood Lake, where he lived for 53 years, celebrating their 62nd wedding anniversary. They had a honeymoon dinner but saved having dessert to be with his daughter Marla, son-in-law Frank and grandchildren Zac and Ari in Armonk, N.Y. That night, he was taken to Westchester Medical Center University Hospital where he had wonderful care and passed peacefully on June 9.
Ed was a second lieutenant in World War II. He finished New York University and graduated from Columbia University School of Optometry in 1952. He and Libby married in 1955 while she was studying optometry at Columbia University. They both went to New England College of Optometry for postgraduate degrees. They opened a home office in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn.
Ed was a clinical instructor at SUNY College of Optometry as well as a staff doctor at North Brooklyn Hospital, receiving the Best Doctor of the Year Award from Cumberland Hospital.
His leisure activities were skiing, boating and tennis, winning the West Milford Singles Championship Cup several times.
At age 90, he will be greatly missed by his son Neil and daughter-in-law Sujata Patel; daughter Marla, son-in-law Frank and grandchildren Zac and Ari; his wife Libby, and the many patients he saw for 60 years.
