Edward A. Bednarski of West Milford passed away with his family by his side on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012 after a long battle with brain cancer. He was 58.
He was born in Bayonne, NJ to Stella E.(nee Susek) and Walter E. Bednarski.
Edward married Elizabeth A. (nee Messer) in 1995 and together they raised their son, Samuel, in West Milford.
Ed was a systems designer and programmer for 25 years at Fiserv, Inc in Morris Plains.
Ed was a very active member of the United Methodist Church at Newfoundland. His church and church family made a big difference in his life and he enjoyed serving as an usher with his son. He was a caring steward of the property and enjoyed participating in church development activities and vacation bible school.
Ed was a committee chairman for Boy Scout Troop 114 in West Milford. He enjoyed the friendships forged through camping and summer camp.
Ed enjoyed driving in drag races and bowling. He earned a Green belt at Porta’s Karate Academy, a passion he shared with his son. He was an accomplished do-it-yourselfer and enjoyed his ever-growing collection of power tools. Ed thoroughly enjoyed being a band parent.
Mr. Bednarski was predeceased by his parents as well as his wife from a previous marriage Camille M. (nee Merlo).
He is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth of West Milford, his dear son Samuel of West Milford, his three brothers Walter E. Bednarski of Aberdeen, Thomas A. Bednarski and his wife Susan of Bayonne, and Gerald A. Bednarski and his wife Betty of Oradell, and his nieces Emma and Lauren Bednarski.
He also leaves behind his sister-in-law Cathlyn J. Acker, his brother-in-law Richard M. Acker, and his mother-in-law Anita J. Messer.
A memorial service to celebrate Ed’s life will take place on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013 at 1 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, 65 LaRue Road, Newfoundland.
