Edward “Eddie” Devine, formerly of West Milford and a resident of The Villages in Florida, passed away peacefully with his beloved wife at his side and children nearby on Wednesday, July 29, 2020. He was 80 years old.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, Eddie served in the United States Marine Corps, being honorably discharged as a Lance Corporal.
He was later employed by Ford Motor Company as an Assembly Line worker and remained a proud Ford vehicle owner until the time of his passing.
He raised his family in Northern New Jersey before retiring to The Villages 13 years ago. He enjoyed fishing, boating, golfing, traveling, watching TV and spending quality time with his family and friends.
Eddie is survived by his loving wife of almost 53 years Billie; daughter Meg Devine-Rodriguez and her husband Steve; son Danny Devine and his wife Kristin; and daughter Lori Pfarrer and her husband Brian. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Kayla, Sean, Kassidy, Maggie, Dani, Logan, Tyler and Gavin, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, in-laws, cousins, best friends Joan and John Sandak, also formerly of West Milford and currently of The Villages, and extended family and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Patrick and Rosalie and brothers Patrick, Donald and Gerard and sister-in-law Carol.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any contributions be made to the GoFundMe campaign for “Little Liam the Fighter.” https://www.gofundme.com/f/little-liam-the-fighter?utm_source=customer&utm_campaign=p_cp+share-sheet&utm_medium=copy_link-tipmay.
Liam is the grandson of a close family friend and is fighting cancer. Any assistance that could be provided to Liam’s family would have meant so much to Eddie.
Visitation will be held at Richards Funeral Home in West Milford on Monday, Aug. 17, from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 p.m.
A graveside ceremony and interment will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 18, at 11 a.m. at Cedar Heights Cemetery in West Milford, N.J.
Eddie’s sense of humor, Irish temperament and devotion to his family will be sorely missed.
