Edward J. Murphy Jr.

    Edward J. Murphy Jr. of West Milford, N.J., passed away on May 22, 2020. He was 75.

    Edward was born and raised in Paterson, N.J. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert.

    Edward served in the U.S. Navy stationed in Spain between 1962-1963.

    He went on to work for Ford Motor Company for more than 30 years, retiring in 2003.

    Edward was active with The American Legion serving as Commander at Post #289 and, more recently, Passaic County Commander.

    In addition, he enjoyed taking residents of Chelsea Assisted Living and Milford Manor to their appointments.

    A resident of West Milford for 40 years, Edward never seemed to grow old. Always a people person, Edward loved being around others always telling stories. He loved war movies, especially World War II ones, cars and vacationing in Ocean Grove.

    He also enjoyed cooking, sitting on the deck with a cup of coffee, doing crossword puzzles and loved to eat.

    Edward is survived by his loving wife Patricia and his devoted daughter Sharon Murphy of Edison.

    Private arrangements entrusted to Richards Funeral Home, West Milford.

    A memorial service will take place later this year.
