Francis Hackel

    Francis Hackel of Newfoundland died on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015. He was 91.

    Born in West New York, Mr. Hackel lived in Guttenberg before moving to Newfoundland. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II, earning the Purple Heart. Also, he was a parishioner of St. Simon the Apostle R.C. Church, Newfoundland. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Sokol USA, the Knights of Pythias, and the Golden Age Club of Milton as well.

    Mr. Hackel is survived by his wife, the former Constance Allen; his son, Michael of Washington; his daughters, Constance Young of Newfoundland, and Christine Profaca of Jefferson Township; his sister, Marilyn Pirnat; his brother, Gerard; his grandchildren, Jason Stuhlmiller and Diana Henderson, Taylor Hackel and Meredith Drenski, Mark, Daniel, and Emily Profaca, and Jillian and Cassidy Young; and his great-grandchildren, Alisha, Briana, Cora, Landen, Zechariah, and Myles.

    He was predeceased by his parents, Emma and Conrad; his brothers, William, Raymond, and Conrad; and his sisters, Doris Hackel and Emily Stark.

    Arrangements were made by the Stickle-Soltesz Funeral Home, Newfoundland.
