Gary Dimas

Gary Dimas passed away on Wednesday March 24, 2021, in Highland Lakes, N.J., after a long journey with glioblastoma. He was 51.

In his final days he was surrounded by loving family members in the comfort of his home.

Born in Westwood, N.J., on June 12, 1969, Gary was a kind, thoughtful and compassionate man loved by all who knew him.

He graduated from Pascack Valley High School in 1987 and Ithaca College in 1991 with a degree in archeology. Gary’s love of history and the environment led him to a successful career in solar energy.

He was a gifted musician who played guitar and mandolin with friends, family and on stage throughout his life. Gary was also a skilled woodworker and loved spending time with his family and friends, on the lake boating or fishing, hiking, camping, skiing and nights around a bonfire.

Gary was a devoted and loving husband, and adoring father.

He is survived by his wife and lifelong friend, Christine (Lally); and children, Nathaniel, age 14, and Eva, age 11.

He will be greatly missed by his mother, Barbara; brother, Bill (Jennifer); sister, Leslie; in-laws, Vincent and the late Joan, sister-in-law Allison, brothers-in-law David (Katie) and Thomas; three nieces; nine nephews; and numerous Canadian relatives.

Gary was predeceased by his father, Major William F. Dimas.
