George Louis Dusenberry, formerly of West Milford, died on Wednesday, May 28, 2014. He was 69 years old.
George was born in Hawthorne on June 9, 1944. During his life, he was a dedicated United States Postal Service employee for 31 years and served his country in the United States Army for six years during the Vietnam War era. He was an active community volunteer in New Jersey, serving as a volunteer fireman for the Greenwood Forest Fire Company in Hewitt, and as board member and chairman of the West Milford Municipal Utilities Authority for several years. In addition, he was a Little League coach, Cub Scout leader, and a new member of Vietnam Veterans of America #165.
George is survived by his wife, Alice (Morgan) of Lynden, Wash., son George Jr., daughter-in-law Michelle Tribe, granddaughters Victoria Lynn and Isabelle Leigh of North Vancouver, BC, brothers James Dusenberry of Jefferson Ga., Harold Dusenberry Jr. of Summerville S.C., sister Nancy De Brock of Hoschton Ga., step-brother John Ackerman of Port St. Lucie, Fla., mother-in-law, Helen Morgan of Dover, sister-in-law Joyce Morgan of Bridgewater, and several nieces and nephews.
George was predeceased by his mother Ellen (Colyer) Ackerman, step-father John Ackerman, father Harold Dusenberry, step-brother Ryan Ackerman, step-sister Suzan Jansky, and brother-in-law Edward Morgan.
Donations may be made in George’s name to the Wounded Warrior Project, the Vietnam Veterans of America, or the VA Puget Sound Fisher House, which provides “a home away from home" for families of veterans receiving care at VA Puget Sound Health Care System.
