Gloria Mikowski of Oak Ridge passed away on Monday, July 21, 2025. She was 92.
She was born on Aug. 24, 1932, in Sparta to Mary Ann “Myra” (nee Jenkins) Bayles and Lawrence Bayles.
Gloria married Paul Joseph Mikowski in 1955. The couple lived in Milton, where they raised their family.
For many years, Gloria worked for the Jefferson Township Board of Education in educational resources.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Paul Joseph Mikowski in 2017; her loving son, John Michael Mikowski in 2005; her dear parents, Myra Shaw in 2011 and Charles Bayles in 1979; her loving stepfather, Donald Shaw in 1991; and her dear brothers Donald Shaw in 1981 and Larry Bayles in 2015.
Gloria is survived by her loving daughter, Sue Ellen Mikowski of Belvidere; her cherished grandchildren, Rebecca Joh and Jillian MacDonald; her adored great-grandchildren, Lola Wren, Murray and Leonard; her loving brother Tom Shaw; her dear nieces, Jennifer Shaw, Robin Shaw, Bonne Simonian and Faye Carson; and her dear nephews, Dustin Shaw, Tom Bayles, Bud Bayles, Carolyn Shaw and Jeffrey Shaw.
A funeral (urn will be present) will take place on Sunday, Aug. 3 at 2 p.m. at Oak Ridge Presbyterian Church, 342 Oak Ridge Road, followed by placement of the urn in the niche at Oak Ridge Cemetery, behind the church. Refreshments will follow at the Oak Ridge Presbyterian Parish House.
