    Helen Elizabeth"Betty" Maloney passed away on Monday, May 21, 2012 after a sudden illness.

    Betty was a longtime resident of 87 Maple Road, West Milford. She was the wife of the late James A. Maloney, owner of James Maloney and Son Tree Service of West Milford.

    Betty took pride in coordinating the family business for many years. She was loved and respected by her family and the many business customers who knew her. Betty’s friendly manner and outgoing personality were greatly admired and a cornerstone for the many years of business success. She was an avid bowler for many years and loved her farm animals.

    Betty is survived by two sons, John Stevens Maloney of North Wilkesboro, N.C., and James Andrew Maloney of West Milford, six grandchildren: John Stevens Maloney, II and James Brent Maloney of Jefferson, N.C., Jason Paul Maloney of North Wilkesboro, N.C., Tyson Daniel Maloney and Kyle Samuel Maloney of West Milford and Alaina Rae Maloney of San Diego, Ca., three great-grandchildren: John Stevens Maloney III, Haley Elizabeth Maloney and Brenna Faith Maloney of Jefferson, N.C. Betty is also survived by her two very close sisters, Cathern Lewien of Nicholas, N.Y., and Eleanor Schubert of Fairfield. She brightened the lives of so many. She will be missed so very much.

    A gathering of friends and family will be held on Thursday, May 24, at the Richards Funeral Home from 4 to 6 p.m., with a memorial service at 5:30 p.m.
