James Austin Beach, 84, passed away Oct. 19, 2012, at Newton Medical Center.

Born in Newark, N.J., to Charles and Edna Beach, he had lived in Kearny for many years and was active in the First Baptist Church. He then moved to Montville Township and then to West Milford before moving to Sussex County 20 years ago.

Beach had served in the United States Air Force during World War II and was devoted to his country. He had been employed as an underground electrician for Public Service (PSE&G) in Irvington and Clifton for 40 years and had retired in 1990.

Beach had attended the Sussex United Methodist Church, a member of the American Legion Post 213 in Sussex, a founding father and Past President of the United Bow Hunters of New Jersey, a long standing member of the New Jersey Field Archery Association and a long standing member of the Lincoln Park Archery Club.

Beach was a campground host, along with his wife, Marjorie for two years at Yellowstone National Park and all his friends knew him best as an avid Giants fan. He was a dedicated Christian man who revolved his life around his family and was especially devoted to his grandchildren and to his newly born great granddaughter.

Beach was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Marjorie Beach on February 1, 2012, and his brother, Arthur Beach.

He is survived by his three daughters, Carolyn Ferguson and husband Richard of Sussex, Nancy McClelland and husband Michael of Warwick, and Jeannette Davis and husband Locke of Chattanooga, Tenn.; his four grandchildren, Sean Ferguson and wife Arielle, Katelyn Tanis and husband Joseph, Colleen Fox and husband Steven and Jessica McClelland; his great granddaughter, Sierra Mae Tanis; his two step-granddaughters, Michelle Doherty and Sandra LaVigne and their families.

Funeral arrangements made by Pinkel Funeral Home in Sussex. Funeral services were held at the Sussex United Methodist Church in Sussex.
