    John M. Bandel Jr. of Hewitt died peacefully at home on Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2021. He was 79 years old.

    He was born in Baltimore, Maryland, to John and Virginia Bandel. He grew up in Garden City, Long Island, and moved to Nanuet, then Greenwood Lake for many years.

    And then he moved to Hewitt, N.J., to build his Frank Lloyd Wright-type home. John designed his home and was the general contractor.

    John is a veteran of the Vietnam War where served in the U.S. Army with distinction.

    He graduated from John Hopkins with a degree in economics and was a successful financial advisor for 50 years.

    John is survived by his wife, Kathleen, his cousins Fred Joyner and Paula Davidson of Maryland.

    Funeral arrangements were made by Richards Funeral Home.

    A Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Rosary Church in Greenwood Lake, was held on Saturday, Nov. 27.

    Private cremation service to be held at a later date.
