Joseph Tanski Sr.

    Joseph Francis Tanski Sr. died unexpectedly at Morristown Medical Center on Monday, May 28, 2012. He was 80.

    Born to Walter and Sophie Tanski in Paterson, he had resided in Paterson for many years and then West Milford for 10 years before moving to Wantage Township 22 years ago.

    Mr. Tanski served with the Navy during the Korean War and then worked as a grocery store manager for Shop Rite in West Milford for many years before retiring in 1993. He enjoyed playing cards, watching sports and caring for his many animals.

    Mr. Tanski is survived by his wife of 45 years Janet Tanski (nee Sidney) of Wantage Township; sons Arthur Tanski of West Caldwell, Joseph F. Tanski Jr. of Sussex, and Paul Tanski of Wantage Township; brothers Robert Tanski of Arizona, Walter Tanski of Haskell; sister Dolores Wagner of Toms River; and grandchildren Karyn, Lisa, Nicholas, Alexis, Emily and Madison.

    The family will receive their friends at Ferguson Funeral Home, 27 Third St., Sussex, NJ on Wednesday, May 30, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service at the funeral home on Thursday, May 31, at 11 a.m.. Interment to follow in Mt. Salem Cemetery, Wantage Township.
