    Richard E. Sampson, 84, passed away May 8 at the Milford Manor Nursing Home in West Milford.
    He was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on March 22, 1935, the son of Edward and Doloris Sampson.
    Richard graduated from Jennings High School in 1953, and from Washington University in St. Louis in 1958 with a BS in Business Administration.
    He joined the USAF and flew B-52 bombers during the Korean and Vietnam wars.
    In 1966, he joined American Airlines as a pilot and retired in 1995.
    Richard is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Jane Raney Sampson, his daughter, Pamela Molinari, son Dennis, son David, and a sister Janice Bird of Missouri.
    He is also survived by six grandchildren, Vincent Molinari, Sophie Duren, Julia Sampson, Kevin Sampson and Kristen.
    Two great grandchildren, Olivia and Hunter Molinari.
    At the request of the family, there will be no formal services.
    In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Richard’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the West Milford First Aid Squad.
