Stratos "Scott" Mavros of West Milford died on Friday, April 19, 2013. He was 85.
Born in New York City, Mr. Mavros lived in Fort Lee and Franklin Lakes before moving to West Milford in 1998. He was a chief engineer for the Parmatic Filter Corporation, Branchville, before retiring in 2008. Previously, he worked for Bendix Corp. and Bell Labs. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. And, he was a parishioner of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Wyckoff.
Mr. Mavros is survived by his daughter, Elena; and his son, Stu. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Catherine Anastasio.
Services were held on Thursday, April 25, at the Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, Franklin Lakes, and at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Wyckoff. Interment was at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church of New York City Rebuilding Fund.
