Virginia G. Mathews, nee Porrazzo, died on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013. She was 78 and the widow of David J. Mathews who predeceased her in 1989.
Born in Boston. Mass., the daughter of Michael and Mary J. (Grace) Porrazzo, she has been a resident of West Milford since 1951. Virginia was a member of St. Joseph's Church and a substitute teacher for Head Start Preschool, Hewitt.
Surviving are her children Jean Ammerman, Marilyn Parker, James, Richard and Barbara Mathews, step-brothers William and Ralph Bielecki, a half-brother Roy Bielecki, a sister Jean Egan, 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visiting will be held at the Richards Funeral Home, West Milford on Wednesday, Feb. 6 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will take place during the evening viewing hours. Final disposition will be private.
