Yetta P. Daugherty, a resident of West Milford since 1966, died on July 21, 2014, at the age of 93.
Yetta was a New Jersey Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice since 1970, a clinical member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy, was active in the community serving on the Passaic County Mental Health Board from 1976-1982, and on the Professional Advisory Committee to the Mental Health Board from 1982 to 1991. Yetta was appointed by the Passaic County Freeholders to the Passaic County Human Services Advisory Council from 1982 to 2010 and chaired the Proposal Review Committee.
She was a founding member of the Upper Passaic County Human Services Coalition. She served on the FEMA committee for Passaic County United Way and was a founding member of the West Milford League of Women Voters. Her husband, Roger M. Daugherty, who died in 1996, was active on the West Milford Planning Board and the Environmental Commission and for whom the Mary Haase and Roger Daugherty Environment on Maple Road was named.
Yetta is pre-deceased by her parents Eva and Aaron Kamm of New Jersey, her first husband George Psomas, her second husband Roger Daugherty, and her sister and brother-in-law Freda and Sam Yegidis from Florida.
Yetta is survived by her step-daughter Macre Daugherty from Indiana, step-granddaughter Jay Schwartz of California, niece Bonnie L. Yegidis of Lake Mary, Florida and daughter, Rachel Starford, grand-niece, of Atlanta, Georgia, nephew Jeffrey S. Yegidis and his wife Roberta Yegidis of Fort Myers, Florida and Lake Hopatcong, and their children, grand-niece Robyn McCoy of Plant City, Florida and grand-nephew Michael Jones of Milford, Connecticut.
Additionally, Yetta had many good friends, especially her very dear friends Maureen Nussman of Kinnelon and Debbie Jankowski of Greenwood Lake, N.Y.
Visitation will be held at the Richards Funeral Home, 1440 Union Valley Road, West Milford on Friday Aug. 1, 2014 from 2 to 5 p.m. Interment will be private.
